I spent the weekend getting started with Fhem and in the process created a fhem chef cookbook (//github.com/nixterrimus/fhem-chef-cookbook). This cookbook is a script that automates installing fhem on a fresh machine. I also added a configuration file for a tool called Vagrant that lets you create a virtual machine and in just a few minutes have a running copy of fhem.
This setup has been useful for me as I've been exploring Fhem. I've written a blog post (//blog.dcxn.com/2013/07/07/chef-cookbook-for-fhem-home-automation/) with a little more detail on the setup.
I would love to know if it's useful for other people (and even have additions if you have ideas on how it can be better).
