Titel: Fhem stops working for 20min
Beitrag von: andyclimb am 11 September 2013, 22:51:04
Hi,

Over the past couple of months I've been having problems with FHEM becoming unresponsive, to web commands and commands through a RFXCOM and a CUL.  In order to find out what was causing it i've written a notify that logs the time difference between sysstat readings which identifies the crashes as being longer than the normal 60 second interval.

At first I thought it was the PRESENCE module but I still get the crashes.  I started using a log level 5 to log everything but there was no consistent cause of the crashes.  What happenins is that there is a pause of 10mins on average and then FHEM executes all the commands that should have been executed at once and it works again.  I then removed all my configuration so that I'm left with only the auto created options and my sysstat module to identify the hangs.  This give me a very stable FHEM with no hangs.   However, the problem I have is that no matter what I add in presence, electricity module (my own written macro), weather module... they all seem to cause the instability to come back..

I'm happy to provide what ever information, logs, fhem.cfg file, configuration......  below is what the hang looks like this was one of 925 seconds.

I thought i could find the cause but now it seems like everything causes it and I have no ideas left..  Its quite frustrating..

My hardware is a core-i3 running Ubuntu Server 13.04

my config file is attached.  I can provide logs but a download link is better as they are over 100MB, being at level 5

Any help would be appreciated, I've been stuck with this for a while now.

Thanks

I have a similar problem.

I'm running FHEM on a Raspberry Pi and sometimes - mostly at night, when I want to sleep - nothing is responding anymore.
Sometimes after 10-15 minutes, all previously given commands are executed, sometimes it takes longer and I just give up, kill FHEM, start again, cause I really want to sleep...

I have suspected my LIGHTSCENES because I change them just before leaving for my bed, but I will have a look on the PRESENCE module as well.

Aside from tha I have no idea what could cause this. When looking at the processes on the Pi, nothing is using much memory or CPU, and in the FHEM-Log or on the event monitor nothing suspicious shows up.
FHEM justs freezes, does not respond to remote buttons or shell commands and the FHEM-Web doesn't serve anything...

This sounds exactly like the problem that I've been having. I too suspected various modules but nothing seemed to really fix it.

I've got very frustrated..

I've got one question.  My crashes seem to correlate with using different devices to access FHEMWEB.... Ie laptop, phone and tablet..  Cn you try setting longpoll to 0 in each FHEMWEB instance and see if that works.  I changed mine yesterday and I've not had a single crash yet... Early days though.

I too use multiple instances of fhemweb, for tablet, local PC and external PCs...

I'll try deactivating longpoll. It may take a few days to confirm if this has any impact.

Without the longpoll I now had 2 days/nights without any problems. Your suspicions might  prove right...

Hi

That's good news. Ive not had any trouble either, and I spent two months trying to find the source. Using the time difference between syssstat logs without longpoll I still get some crashes but they are 2min instead of 15min, so nowhere near as bad. And fhem is totally usable!

I wonder if anyone else has similar issues?

yes, I had the same issue, but now, after following your advice, I'd say it's gone (at least for the last 3 days) :-)

Thanks a lot!!

I opened a thread about this issue in the "Frontends"-section of the forum. Maybe we will find another solution for this without deactivating longpoll.
