False smoke alarm with the HM-SEC-SD-2

Hi,

I have six HM-SEC-SD-2 devices configured with a virtual teamlead. This all works fine for more than a year but sometimes the alarm goes off without any noticeable fire or smoke. Since about a month the frequency of false alarms is increasing (three times in the past two weeks) and most of the times at night
I don't have a clue what is wrong. And it's also not the same SD that initiates the alarm.
I did see I have three SD with firmware v1.0 and the other three (that I bought later) have v1.1. I'm not sure if the firmware can be updated as I can't find a downloadable firmware at the eq3 site.

Any help with this problem is highly appreciated as kids and wife were not to happy last night

Hi,
first sorry for my bad english.

I have 9 SD2 and had the same problems in the past.
The last times i opened the smoke chamber of the SD2 that initiates the alarm and cleaned it with a soft brush. Since i've done that, there were no more false alarms. Open the smoke chamber is probably not the best way, but it works. After i reinstalled the SD2, i tested them with "smoke detector test spray" to make sure that they still work correctly.

I don't see any screws so how did you open these? I don't think these were mentioned to be opened as the battery can't be changed as well.
There should be a better option I guess?

I've already said, thats it is not the best way. And sorry, but if you are not able to see how to open the device, then it's realy not the right way for you.

Then i think the only way is to reclaim the devices.

No problem, thanks anyway for the advice. I created a support ticket with eq3, maybe they have an answer to this. And otherwise I'll check with the supplier (Conrad in the NL) if I can return them.
